All the traditional trials of a greenhorn plus some pretty astounding times on a Saturn we can never hope to see, accompany conceited but capable Dale Sutton on his first assignment out of Space Academy. Dale's ship, an old tub of a rocket called the Albatross, heads for Saturn on the trail of a ghost rocket. More fantastic than hypothetically real are the conditions they find- salamander-like creatures able to paralyze human brain waves, near death from heavy water etc. But dangers are bypassed and the Albatross gets down to earth again.
