Wanted a thoroughly organized and trained mind, a well equipped kitchen and food shelf, and the know-how of an experienced cook, these succulent dishes can o doubt be prepared within the magic thirty minutes. But whether the average house wife can do it or not, the nenus- 134 of them- are provocative, imaginative, creative and worth more than the time indicated. They are menus for home meals for a discriminating family and menus for that special and often unexpected guest, who has high ideals of what to expect, and menus for parties, large and small, festival inspired or functional. Warning- this is not a book to leaf over casually, but a book to own and sample. Throughout there is Poppy Cannon's unfailing zest for what she has to offer; there is ample evidence of her worldwide familiarity with national dishes, there are hints on short cuts in methods and ingredients- and there is an aura of elegance that justifies the title.
