ACTION AT THIRD

Big league baseball and all its trickiness combine to make another high pitched yarn about Hyland of the Hawks. With his military service now behind him, Johnny Hyland returns to Mitch Corey and the Hawks to take over the position at third. Despite some snappy playing, opinions about him are split and troubles, perhaps the biggest of which are a set of ulcers acquired by manager Corey, come thick and fast before the series title can be wrenched from the Yankees. Brisk.
