CHARLIE'S DREAM

Charlie Ram lives with his family on a farm in Vermont, and when he reviews their year--spinning and knitting in winter, plowing, planting, and shearing in spring, weeding gardens and baling hay in summer, chopping wood and harvesting in fall-Robin remarks, from her migratory vantage point, ""Charlie, it sounds to me like you spend all your time either getting ready for the winter or living in the winter."" So far, the story is as dull and drawn out as Charlie's year--and what follows is the same cycle repeated, with Charlie now discontented through it all. In the end he decides to winter in Florida, and the last of Farrow's flat cartoons shows him and his kin sweating under the palm trees as they dream of skiing and ice skating. A dud.
