VENETIAN MASQUE

Cloak and sword romance at its best, -- such is the standard Sabatini has set, and this new novel measures up to his earlier standards, and is certain to roll up a good sales figure and an excellent circulation figure in all types of circulating and public libraries....The background is Vencio, under the shadow of Napoleon's rising star, and its own setting star. Maro-Antoine, part British, part French, thrown by chance into a situation which enabled him to play a double role in Venice, is the hero, and finds himself embroiled in plots and counterplots, and almost cheated of the love which had brought him across the continent on a perilous errand. There is a glamorous background of intricate pattern, and a story well told.
