Return of the humanoids--after a recap of Phase One. At Dr. J. Allen Hynek's Center for UFO Studies, Betty Andreasson and daughter Becky describe, under hypnosis, a close encounter of the third kind: a UFO landed in the Andreasson's backyard (in South Ashburnham, Mass.); ten members of the family saw the craft and its humanoids; Betty was taken on board in a trance, examined, and exposed to an ecstatic religious experience. Now, in Phase Two, Betty has remarried--and her husband, under hypnosis, reveals a UFO visit to his backyard when he was four (in 1944) and a later, three-hour abduction (in 1967). Betty herself reports seven contacts in the course of 31 years (1944-75). Some are minor--such as being followed about by a glowing insect (which enters her forehead as if to be her pineal gland), meeting an alien in the woods, hearing a voice in her trailer. During her big abduction, she relates, a pineal-like BB was implanted and she was ushered through the Great Door beyond into the presence of the One. (The humanoids have made the actual encounter with the One into a prohibited memory.) Her own interpretation of her experiences are consistent with her Fundamentalist beliefs about the Second Coming. Very, very far out--and less gripping than the kick-off--but the convinced will be back for more.
