THE RELEVANCE OF THE PROPHETS

Scholars, ministers, and other serious students of the Bible will find this historical and critical study of the prophets of the Old Testament helpful and stimulating. The author sketches the development of the prophetic function in and through the great personalities of the Old Testament, with particular emphasis upon Isaiah, Jeremiah, Amos, and Hoses who most clearly embodied the prophetic ideal as ""forth-tellers"" rather than ""fore-tellers"". In showing clearly that the great prophets were men of God with a message for their own times, the author goes on to indicate the relevance of their message for our own times.
