MORE DANGEROUS THAN THE MOON

The setting is Tasmania but you can hardly see the landscape for the outlandish action of the plot. Narrator Tallon, a likable ex-con and his partner Two-tooth are engaged in a little genteel smuggling when (a) they get accosted by a Russian sub; (b) find a babbling Russian deserter; (c) get hired by a beautiful junkie to go looking for a UFO which turns out to be a Russian spacecraft with a dangerous nuclear reactor. Between the crooks, the con men and the CIA it's strictly Grade C.
