by Richard Tregaskis ‧ RELEASE DATE: April 3, 1961
An adventure story, on which Tregaskis, who is a good reporter, has attempted to superimpose a shoddy, tasteless romance. The story is set in Shanghai in the summer of 1948, as Communist infiltration is felt- but still not considered inevitable, and the central character is a staff writer for an adventure magazine looking for a good story. He finds instead a winsome girl photographer, married to a lush who is also selling to the Communists and making real money. That he also has a wife- also on the bottle- doesn't interfere too much in the passionate love affair to follow which takes them on together to the front- as a photographer-reporter team. Meretricious.
