Curt Bless first book, Total best sold. This, in the same general field, is equally good reading, based on reports from the governments in exile, from the underground radios, etc. It's dramatic and heartening as, in spite of acute hanger, oppression, mass murder, one reads of the stubborn defiance of the conquered peoples. Czechoslovakia and ; Belgium and its ""Libre ,"" the world war underground newspaper which has been revived; France and its assassinations. Norway -- where no German can get past the silent contempt of the people, Poland, most tortured, most vindictive; Rumania, Yugoslavia, Greece, Austria, all participating in the small sporadic acts of resistance, refusal and mockery. Good, based on telling, authentic material.
