Holt, Rinehart & Winston will begin publishing a new series, THE READING TIME LIBRARY: THE LITTLE OWL STORYBOOKS-- a division of the series-- appropriate for Kinder- gorten through Grade Two, will begin appearing in May and June. The editor of these books for beginning readers is Dr. Bill Martin, Jr., who formerly served as an elementary school principal in Winnetka, Illinois. We received copies of the first four books only, and reviews of these follow. If the other titles are equal to these four in quality of design and text, it would seem that the series is composed of fresh, colorful books which- as a set of individually- will make a fine supplement for reading in the classroom and/or at home. It the blurb copy of each jacket, there is a message to parents describing the various uses and purposes of the book. National publicity, directed to both the general trade and school markets, is planned.
