The time, the period between 1929 and the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War; the cast that of all Europe, from the Atlas mountains to the moors of Scotland, with Anthony Whitford, declared a suicide, taking on a new character as fortune carries him out of his penniless state. As Denis Martin, he accumulates wealth, and women, uses his wealth to stem the threat of Fascism, to win Beatrice who will not have him without marriage. Martin connives with, and against, the leeches of his worldly circles, shows his friends in the lower classes how to use force against the weapons of world cataclysm. With the advent of the war in Spain, Martin, knowing time has run out, murders a Fascist sympathizer, heads a demonstration against Fascism in England, is killed. Confusing stylistic fireworks-toxic trends in multipattern.
