THE SATURDAY EVENING POST CARNIVAL OF HUMOR

Essays, articles and stories and cartoons make up this collection which dates from 1911 to the present and the name and fame appeal has much to recommend it. In the fiction line-up are Wodehouse and Jeeves, Damon Runyon, Dorothy Parker, Ring Lardner, Roark Bradford, Gilpatric and Glencannon, Fitch and dear old Siwash, Upson and Alexander Botts, Tarkington and Penrod, John Taintor Foote's The Wedding Gift, William Faulkner, Raine and Tugboat Annie, Octavus Roy Cohen, Don Marquis and many more: other pieces are authored by Corey Ford, Irvin S. Cobb, H. Allen Smith, Will Rogers, James Thurber, S. J. Perelman, for just a sampling, and there is a whole section of The Perfect Squelch and A Post War Anecdote. In its long span there's nostalgia, recall and enough variety to please almost anyone and its cartoons should aid and abet the accent on amusement.
