The Poetry Cure is evidence that Robert Schauffler, no matter what you may think of his prescriptions, knows how to get under the skin of the average human being, and to prescribe successfully. The success of that volume is background for the sale of this program for training for positive qualities and eliminating negative qualities. Palliative measures first suggested form a basis for a solid defense against worry, fear, etc., and autosuggestion plays a considerable part. Variety in mental, physical and emotional training, widening of horizons, rounding out of interests are outlined with accompanying exercises. Emphasis on matching personal ideals to personal equipment. He turns Dorothea Brande's negative suggestions into affirmatives, and claims more for autosuggestion than she does. Definitely for the layman.
