A good-looking yacht skipper and her dad sail halfway around the world to go to war with the slimeballs who ruined their lives. More tough adventure from the author of Slade's Glacier, Blood Sport, and The Diamond Blogo. Miranda Culdee and her father Jim ""Cuddy"" are bent on vengeance, so much so that they have renamed their sailboat Venganza and refitted her to take them from California to the Philippines--where they will hunt down Hugh ""Curt"" Curten, the man who stole Miranda's ketch and ""Commodore"" Tim Turner, the man who stole her father Jim's future in Vietnam. In addition to restoring the long-idle family sailboat, Miranda has had to restore her father, who has been awash in a sea of alcohol since his naval career was ruined by the false testimony of Turner, a fellow prisoner in North Vietnam. Miranda has no idea that Curt is an undercover drug cop, and Cuddy never was told that Turner's betrayal was part of a cynical CIA plot. They know only that Miranda's boat and its hijacker have been spotted in the lawless islands of the southern Philippines, where fate and inept government strategies have brought Curt into Turner's employ. Turner is now working as a US Government-approved pirate, the head of a private cutthroat navy, running drugs and fighting insurgents. When they reach the islands, Miranda and Cuddy join forces with a gang of rebels who answer to an unusually cynical Jesuit, and the battle is engaged. Up-to-date swashbuckler. Swords in the teeth, wind in the sails, and it all works. Great fun.
