A story story and certainly there's a lot of it moving with ease and celerity across the years and a lot of territory from the U.S. to Germany via the Scarlattis, a large banking house. Now Matthew Canfield who had married Ulster Scarlet's former wife Janet, is about to make the final confrontation with Ulster who had been presumed dead but had joined Hitler's high command, absconding with a cool Scarlatti 270 million. There's a long chase in Europe while Scarlet tries to kill his mother, a formidable woman, who hires Canfield to do the same for him. Dead Ulster is not but mutilated he is and preserved for the last encounter. . . . All of this is munificently plotted and even if the characters don't have much flesh to go with the blood, who will notice. A possible Panavista?
