DEMOCRACY AND THE ECONOMIC CHALLENGE

In the abstract, the author presents his case for an intelligent free enterprise system as god's gift to the world from the United States of America. As a professor of political science at Columbia University, Mr. Maclver has written this book as a series of live lectures sponsored by the University of Michigan Law School's William W. Cook Foundation, the titles of which show his method of approach; Public and Private Economic Power; Rise of Private Economic Power. The Portent of Karl Marx. Democracy and the Planned Economy; The Meaning for America Marx he repudiates in traditional terms, saying that communist means defy their ends and so forth. In ever increasing sentimental generalizations, comes to the conclusions that too much planning and government control imperils social freedom, weakens social energies, that we must seek the proper combinations and defend ourselves with truths and not half truths. There is not much of value toward problem solving are but it's a good credo for Americans who think a little beyond the level of a Legiondre.
