by Robert Vaughan ‧ RELEASE DATE: Feb. 1, 1973
A just all right 1963 Vietnam action (Mr. Vaughan was over there and seems to have graduated from paperbacks like Mistress of the Lash and Slaves Blood -- ? ! ?) primarily about liaison officer Justin Barclay who knows the Vietnamese and their language more intimately than anyone around. Including the wife of a brutal Colonel Doung who exterminates an entire Buddhist village instigated by Ngo Dinh Nhu, brother and corrupt adviser to President Diem. Meantime, after a little gourmet food and sex, the Americans organize their Valkyrie Mandate which results in the necessary clean-up coup. Easily read and quickly forgotten -- Saigonara.
