by Ron Rood ‧ RELEASE DATE: May 1, 1969
One fine day in May Mr. Rood was waltzing through the woods with the United Church choir when his dog Rebel, much to its regret, discovered a tiny ball of bristles. One cannot leave a tiny orphan stranded, particularly in front of a United Church choir, so the Rood family acquired the last word in pets--Piney, the porcupine. This is a pleasant little account that missed its destiny as a magazine article about how they nursed and fed and finally got to pet their prickly subject and how they exhibited him in a booth at a county fair and how the neighbors me-oh-myed! And Mr. Rood, a biologist, tosses in some interesting facts about porcupines. For those planning to pick one up?
