Plain fancy in Elizabethan England. Miranda's cowardly barber beau bean gives her up to the dragon in the forest, she gives her heart to his unmasked front half. Queen Elizabeth gives him her hand. Presumably this was meant to introduce children to a troupe of strolling players and a characteristic performance (of Saint George and the Dragon) but Miranda's romance is a poor excuse and Queen Bess doesn't belong in the act.
