Six high-to-heavy-handed stories of murder have opulent Floridian backgrounds and for the most part hinge on the acquisition or disposition of great wealth. A papaya heiress plans a philanthropic foundation but finds that it is being used as a racket; a mother kills an old lover who comes back to blackmail her; the death of an old tycoon leaves a fortune to ; a marriage in hate leaves a couple to resent at leisure; etc. etc. Lots of bougainvillea and frangipani, but it's an old-fashioned bouquet.
