by Ruth and Latrobe Carroll ‧ RELEASE DATE: Sept. 11, 1952
A cozy story and adorably cuddly pictures by the authors, take young Pepper and his dog Salt on a moving day trip from their house at the bottom of the hill to a new house at the top. The neighborhood kids and their dogs follow the van up the hill. There's a surprise when a workman stumbles, spilling a crate of Pepper's toys- all balls- golf balls, basket balls, tennis balls and marbles; and a mystery when all of the tipping, scrapping, bow-wowing dogs disappear after a rabbit. The kids help unload, the dogs have a romp and return, led by Salt, peering happily over the tuft of a rise. Pictures colored in honeyed autumn browns and yellows.
