LINCOLN'S SONS

Carried over from Mary Lincoln: Biography of a Marriage, there is a sense of discovery here of the sons, particularly Robert. Perhaps almost as maligned as his mother, he nevertheless emerged as a more likeable person as he grew to maturity. Though he seems remote and colorless in comparison to his younger brothers, though the book lacks the spark that would make it great, there is a wealth of good anecdotal material here.
