ELMER AND THE DRAGON

The author of presents the sequel -- and we hope not the conclusion to nine-year-old Elmer's adventures. Elmer leaves Wild Island forever, as he flys homeward aboard the baby dragon. But a storm arises and the dragon just can't make it. They fall -- fortunately on a sandbar, although up to the dragon's stomach in ""soaking wet water"" which he hates. However, on the island Elmer meets his old friend Flute, the canary, and hears the curiosity problem of King Can who has an ancient secret about a treasure. Elmer suggests digging it up, everyone is relieved of curiosity, and Elmer flys home with three bags of gold, a gold watch and chain and a silver harmonica. Sound pretending, with a multitude of everyday detail and a story in which the child is King of Logic, Explorer and Friend to the Oppressed.
