High in the mountains of Wyoming, Martin Reed runs his horse haven. When someone attempts to kill him, he is incapacitated and sends for his sister, her son Charlie, and Ellen, a young girl who is a friend of the family, to help him in his campaign to revitalize the wild horse herds of that vicinity. Counter to his altruistic interest in horses is the program of a group of ruthless horse thieves who are determined to eliminate Reed whom they consider a major obstacle. Woven into the battle between the lawful and the lawless cattle men is abundant action in which two powerful horses are pitted against each other, a mountain lion is vanquished, a rebellious boy is saved, and the seeds of romance are sown. The fifth of the Golden Stallion series for those who like their fiction hard-hitting and filled with outdoor adventure. Dependably routine.
