KLEPTY

An odd departure for Rutherford Montgomery who usually handles animal subjects realistically. Klepty was a pack rat who lived in Happy Hollow with many other field animals. Klepty (derived from ""kleptomaniac"") stole many things from Brigit's doll house. When he stole a toy piano, Brigit's father set a trap, but, instead of falling into it, Klepty stole that too! However, when Possum is caught in the trap the animal council soon discovers that Klepty was the culprit. Brigit eventually acquires Klepty for a pet, and together they investigate piano sounds in the woods. To her amazement she comes upon all the animals amidst the familiar things from her dollhouse. Klepty is freed when he promises to try to avoid stealing. A rather far-fetched story with some humorous images.
