THE SILVER BRANCH

This is preeminently a book for scholars and students of Irish verse, but it should have an added sale to those who will enjoy the collection of medieval Irish lyrics and ballads, selected by Ireland's distinguished writer. Some of the material he has translated; much of it he has chosen for its permanent place in the history of Irish literature. The material is drawn from a mass of undistinguished work, and represents the best in the verse that has its roots in the Church, the court, and the folk material of old Ireland.
