by Selden Rodman ‧ RELEASE DATE: April 30, 1957
This is a lively survey of the most modern art, architecture and sculpture in America- by means of amusing and often revealing interviews with several dozen exponents. Selden Rodman, a poet, has had a lifelong interest in the graphic arts- already evidenced by his biography of Ben Shahn and a volume on art called The Eye of Man. This last book evidently annoyed the artists and critics so much that Rodman decided to allow the artists to commit themselves in a series of conversations. These, by no means technical or abstract, convey the vitality and range and excitement of the art world in America where the fullest freedom can be found; anything and everything goes..... Not for the acsthetician or art historian, but rather for the contemporary devotees of art galleries and show rooms who will find it entertaining.
