THE CHRISTIAN SHEPHERD: Some Aspects of Pastoral Care

Protestant clergy everywhere are looking more and more to the writings of Dr. Seward Hiltner, of the faculty of theology at the University of Chicago, for his especially perceptive insights into all manner of pastoral relationships and opportunities, firmly wedded as they are to the best psychological and psychiatric knowledge of our day. In his earlier books Pastoral Counseling, The Counselor in Counseling and Preface to Pastoral Theology, Dr. Hiltner has already dealt thoroughly with most of the areas of a Christian minister's concern as he tries to help people; but here are more, and a welcome addition they will prove to be to the many Protestant clergy who view with respect the helpful and imaginative counsel of this able teacher. A few of the chapter titles will suggest the variety and richness of this latest volume: ""Shepherding and the Class Structure,"" ""Shepherding Organization Men,"" ""Shepherding Rebels,"" ""Shepherding Housewives.
