by Seymour Simon ‧ RELEASE DATE: March 1, 1998
An updated version of Simon's 1985 book with more spectacular full-color photographs and much more recent information. Incorporating data from Galileo's trip to the giant planet and new NASA photography, this book delves into Jupiter's atmosphere of 300-mile-per-hour winds, gaseous clouds, and lightning bolts. Fascinating are the pictures of the planet's Red Spot, and ""bruises"" left by a comet that crashed into it. Simon visits each of Jupiter's moons too, showing the topography of erupting volcanoes on Io and the icy ridges and valleys of Ganymede. As in the original, the pictures are large and focused; the book is a return trip not to be missed.
