The not so nice things that happen in a nice neighborhood reflected in the every day events of a California suburban community done through some ten families -- largely their children. Here are the minor pretensions and prejudices which underlie the congenial courtesies of middle class life; the threat to that life as the wall- separating their street from a less desirable section- is torn down; as the Terrals, not ""high bred"", move in. And of the trouble in the Roberts family- Mr. Roberts a skirt chaser and a drinker; the discrimination against the Perlmans, the only Jews; the tragedy of the murder of little Caroline and her young killer...Plaindress presentation of plain people, critical by implication, innuendo. Perhaps too quiet for a popular audience.
