by Simone Prunier ‧ RELEASE DATE: July 22, 1957
With a loving heart Mme. Prunier relates the birth and subsequent ascendancy of that Parisian center of fine cuisine specializing in sea food with an accent on oysters. Geneologically traced through three generations, the success of Prunier's owes much to the diligence and ingenuity of its staff -- the scores of waiters, chefs, and maitres de hotel whose innovations and ideosyncracies did much to flavor the atmosphere. When it was established on the rue Duphot, Prunier's soon attracted an illustrious and faithful clientele. For her resourcefulness on opening night Grandma Prunier is credited for a steady flow of aristocrats, Russian Grand Dukes, statesmen, litterateurs and a general elegance tout ensemble. The pitfalls connected with the business were many and occasional family disputes only served to aggravate them. But throughout thick and thin, pride and determination won out and Prunier's today boasts of several restaurants including one in London, and an extensive fish delivery service... maintaining its high standards of excellent food, impeccable service, and a fashionable patronage.
