by Sir Vivian & Fenton Larousse with Intro. by Fuchs ‧ RELEASE DATE: Oct. 23, 1961
Third in English of the projected thirteen encyclopedias- the world famous series of Larousse Individual Subject Encyclopedias. The Sciences, the Fine Arts and the Humanities will be handled in this unique fashion, with each of the successive volumes providing a broad survey of the subjects. Published here in 1959 and 1960 were Mythology, and Astronomy; Geography-Europe is in the immediate offing... This current volume -- in readable form to entice continuous reading rather than mere reference -- is the story of the Earth, its geology, paleontology, pre-history, the subjects brought up to date for the English-speaking audience by inclusion of considerable additional material on Britain, North America, Australia. The black and white illustrations- both spot inclusions and full pages- are very fine; the full page color inserts are rather crudely over-colored.
