The allied strategy in the air war against Germany and the Third Reich's attempts at defense are described from the start of WWII to the achievement of air victory by the allied forces. At the start of the war, many aviation experts felt that Hitler's war machine was invincible, chiefly because of the massive air power that Germany had assembled. In describing the mobilization of American industry to provide an air force, the author goes into the factors of raw materials, designs, factory set-ups and swiftly trained personnel, both civilian and Air Force. The various capabilities of British, American and German fighters and bombers is compared and contrasted. Backing the text are detailed air battle plans, excellent black and white photographs and full color reproductions of the contemporary Air Force recruiting posters that featured planes and crews in action.
