Nicely twisted murder and manhunt, in hot and high pitched Hollywood manner. How four young man, including ""Peg"", the narrator, decide to make a star of Vicky Lynn whom ""Peg loves, and of her murder on the eve of stardom. All four have some motive, but Ed. Cornell of the police, a half mad tubercular walking toward the grave, decides the innocent ""Peg is it and builds a case against him on circumstantial evidence. ""Peg"" escapes with the help of Jill, Vickey's sister whom he now loves, and eventually defeats Cornell. Smart -- somewhat sexy -- but good, fast reading.
