RALPH'S SECRET WEAPON

A gag, not a story, and quickly concluded (22 pp.)--but pictorially elaborated with the combination of surreal precision and seeming abandon that enables Kellogg to get away with this sort of negligible material Little Ralph, come to spend the summer with Auntie Mame-ish Aunt Georgiana, is set to learning to play the bassoon--and, meanwhile, warned away from Aunt Georgiana's ""welcome"" banana-spinach cream cake by a mouse's sudden upset-stomach; when his bassoon-playing lures a sea serpent forth, the cake has a similar effect on the serpent, causing him to hiccup-up Ralph and his earlier victims. Aunt Georgiana collapses, Ralph gives up the bassoon, Kellogg presents us with back-endpapers of a kid happily disporting himself in a fancy-schmancy pool.
