THE BIG BUNNY AND THE EASTER EGGS

If this didn't start out by flatly stating that big, tall Wilbur ""was chosen to be the Easter Bunny"" because ""he was strong enough to carry lots of baskets of Easter eggs,"" it wouldn't immediately invite unfavorable comparison with The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes (happily, in print--in paperback too). The story then is that Wilbur gets sick, his rabbit friends find the baskets too heavy to carry (or to transport by wagon), and so rouse him from his sick bed. ""He put on his earmuffs, his scarf, and his favorite jacket to make sure he kept warm. He put an ice pack on his head, a nice, big handkerchief in his jacket pocket, and tucked a hot water bottle under his arm."" And looking like a woozy fright, he does--with some distracting antics from his friends--manage to get the eggs delivered somehow or other. Barely funny on a slapstick level and negligible as regards Easter.
