SORORITY REBEL

Deanne Wilson's first year at state college becomes a testing ground of values when her life-long ambition to become a sorority member is threatened by intro spection. Although Deanne longs for the sense of belonging which sororities guarantee their members, she ultimately cannot conform to their stringent demands, nor can she endure the misery the sorority system imposes on the unpledged. Sound issues become somewhat obscured here by the peculiar style of the author whose transitions are so sudden as to be disconcerting. Nonetheless, the problem of whether or not to join a sorority, although it has been treated before, is one of primary interest to the teen-ager and is handled by Sybil Conrad with considerable understanding.
