NIBBLE NIBBLE MOUSEKIN: A Tale of Hansel and Gretel

Certain variants appear in the telling -- and Joan Walsh Anglund is a born storyteller but she omits none of the scary ingredients on the way, though the happy ending will delight the critics who ordinarily veto the story. The lovely pictures by Mrs. Anglund are in soft colors and rhythmic, bold black and white. Once again this gifted author-artist has produced a beautiful book which will long be a favorite.
