by Thomas Bell ‧ RELEASE DATE: N/A
A far cry from All Bevdes Are Beautiful, and less likely to catch the popular fancy. For this is an industrial story, a story of steel through the chronological record of the family of a Slovak Immigrant, who came to Pennsylvania in 1901, down to his grandson. From greenhorn, to the Americanization of the second generation, in a third generation concentrating its interest on the problems of the laboring men, a vision of the working world of the future. Bell has a deft, appealing touch in handling the human relations of his characters, and a good eye and ear for the minuties of background. Solid substance for a biographical novel of a family.
