by Tiffany Thayer ‧ RELEASE DATE: Oct. 20, 1939
Slanged and sexed version of the great classic, with interwoven sensationalism a la Tiffany Thayer. He claims to have drawn on sensational revelations, on old records, annuals, etc. Milady de Winters is the subject of his microscopic analysis, as he delves into her previous affairs; her subsequent seductions; her eventual death (well deserved, in Thayer's version, though I always found her secretly fascinating in Dumas' version of her tale.) Through it all runs the thread of exuberant and inexhaustible court scandals, in France, in England. D'Artagnan plays his part. It is rowdy, noisy, ribald -- cheap. Can't see anything but rentals.
