THE SELFISH OLD WOMAN

If you can suspend disbelief through a succession of creatures -- pig, dog, donkey, neighbor lady, and bear -- happening into anyone's home, or an old woman who believes she's gone blind when a basket falls onto her head and over her face, you might have the patience for this silly story about a selfish old woman who bakes herself a pie with plenty of sugar, loses it to the unseen intruders, then makes herself another pie but mistakenly fills it with pepper instead of sugar. The deliberately crude, splotchy pictures make the old woman look like a genetic disaster.
