TALES FROM MOOMINVALLEY

With Lewis Carroll overtones, the author takes up into a fantasia world with near-real inhabitants. The Moomin family- Moominpappa, Moominmamma, Moomintroll and Little My along with their neighbors the Fillyjonks, Hemulens etc., face the problems of their distinct valley with utmost aplomb. When a defensive invisible child appears, she is eventually prodded into form as the Moomin family teaches her to face her troubles. Mrs. Fillyjonk creates her own little disasters (""I, who see the end of the world every day, and still I'm going on putting on my clothes, and taking them off agian"") finally finds herself in the middle of some real ones. An unhappy Hemulen from a boisterous family of amusement park owners and operators seeks peace and quiet but finds something else more satisfying. The Moomin family (who hiberante for the winter) awaken to find an unknown phenomena--Christmas- upon them. The creatures are given additional substance by the illustrations.
