DANGEROUS HOMECOMING

A sequel to Assignment on Danger (1957, p. 147), this brings Franz Gruber to the fore once again as he battles the Communists behind the iron curtain. Having fled Czechoslovakia and later joined the U. S. Intelligence Service, Franz is asked to return to his native country on a crucial as well as personal mission. His father, allegedly shot by the Communists, has resumed his place as leader of the resistance movement and only Frans can corroborate this fact. After contacting members of the movement in Prague, Franz is given an audience with their leader who turns out to be an impostor. With mixed heartbreak and rage, emotion prevails over reason and Franz commits a profound error which sends the Communists in hot pursuit of Franz and the entire underground movement. The events leading up to the dramatic confrontation, the horrendous chase through Communist territory, the aura of intrigue, the spirit of loyalty and courage make this a thrilling study in suspense.
