Sophisticated clowning at its best, these ""memoirs"" of Princess Tulip Murphy, sub-titled The Crack-up of the International Set. It is a brazen take-off of celebrities, pedigreed or otherwise, sometimes a little custard pie in comedy, but very wise and witty. Princess Tulip, of vaudeville lineage, made her way into the haute monde by her all-seeing eyes and too ready pocket camera. These are her fantastic, extravagant experiences, travelling with the continental-American smart set. Some of this will be familiar to readers of Town and Country. Check up on the buyers of Friends and Romans and The Barbarians; they all want this new one. Grand entertainment.
