HOW MANY DRAGONS ARE BEHIND THE DOOR?

How many dragons? Only one when the duchess' thirteen little girls find it in the forest and bring it home to the tower--and still, it appears, just one when the duchess discovers it, so fattened from the girls' cakes and buns that no one can get it out. But then one morning when the duchess has become resigned to its presence, the girls visit the tower and find that twelve little dragons have been born--and the big dragon is now thin enough so that all thirteen can be returned to the forest. It's good-natured fun for friends of the popular medieval family, but verse, pictures, and situation alike are sadly stale compared to that ever-effervescent cake the duchess baked back in 1955.
