by Virginia Perdue ‧ RELEASE DATE: Sept. 3, 1943
Mystery novel this time, and higher entertainment values than her straights -- in the story of Tawney's overnight marriage to Axel Lindgren, health cultist, about whom she knew nothing. She learns quickly -- of his illegitimate son whom he adopted unethically, of his medical misdemeanours in the role of physiotherapist -- of vindicative relatives of the cases he butchered, of his own hostile family, a sister-in-law and a nephew he crippled. Suspicion turns to fear as Tawney is victimized, but with the help of a lawyer, fighting Axel on the adoption case, Tawney escapes a husband and a murder charge. Fun reading.
