by Walter B. Pitkin ‧ RELEASE DATE: May 19, 1939
Rather superficial and obvious, with little to contribute that has not been said before and said better. He uses the method of his best selling Life Begins at Forty -- illustrating his points with human stories and varied experience. He expresses several controversial viewpoints -- towards women in business, towards child labor, etc. Possibly, a discouraged person who delves below the surface of this text may chance upon some idea that serves as a springboard to rehabilitation, but in the main the book simply confirms what several million ambitious men and women this side of middle age already know, without always putting their knowledge to the test.
