A comeback for the Black (see The Black Stallion. The Black Stallion Returns, etc.) becomes a necessary thing for his young owner Alec Ramsey and his trainer Henry Dailey, when the barn at their farm burns down. At first they pin their hopes on another horse but when this falls through the Black is entered in the Brooklyn handicap and comes through, colors flying. Again the urgency, the ready supply of track and paddock lingo and the ins and outs of the racing code- though a little too highly styled for more general tastes- will please the Farley fans.
