The authors include Mailer, Farrell, Jesse Stuart and Tennessee Williams, Caldwell and Capote, Kay Boyle, John Knowles and the Burnetts among others. As such, the book is a workshop demonstration-- a kind of retrospective of primary value for prospective writers.
